This time of year has really started to grow on me over the last couple of years. This is going to sound silly, but I don’t know if it has anything to do with becoming a blogger and spending more time outside. I’m especially spending more time out in the cold than I would have before since I’m taking pictures to create content for my blog. Being outside more and wanting to create great content geared toward each season has led me to chase after the foliage and other beautiful scenery. So although it’s pretty lame that it took me this long to fully appreciate this season, the upside is that I’m spending more time in mother nature and admiring her beauty! I recently heard about a study that was done that says just being outside can lead to significant health benefits. They say spending time outdoors can improve memory, fight depression, and lower blood pressure. How awesome is that?! Doing something as simple as being outside can help your mental health. Sometimes it really is the littlest things in life that we need to give more attention to or take more seriously. I don’t know how explaining why I love the fall turned into me teaching you about the health benefits of mother nature but I’m not mad about it! I’m just being honest here by not saying that I love fall all of a sudden because of the awesome pumpkin spiced lattes (although they are delicious), but because I shamelessly spend more time outdoors doing photo shoots for this blog and have come to realize just how beautiful the changing of leaves really is. Also a side note, it’s not easy finding trees that have changed colors here in NY in an area that’s ideal for taking blog photos! The struggle is real sometimes trying to find a good location with few or no people around so that we don’t get them in the background of my shots as that can be distracting, especially on the weekends since I don’t have time to do any of it during the week. I hope you’re not reading this as if I’m complaining; I still love this blog and sincerely enjoy doing it, and I just like to be real with y’all! It’s not always rainbows and butterflies; what you see on Instagram is a highlight reel of my life, it’s not a fully accurate depiction of my real life. I struggle and have bad hair days and days where I can’t find anything to wear because I hate everything in my closet. I may look “put together” on the outside, but sometimes I’m falling apart on the inside. We all go through the rollercoaster of this crazy life so I just want to make sure you know (for those who don’t know me personally) that I don’t lead a perfect and filtered life that might be portrayed by my photos here and on Instagram.
Well that was a bit of a rant! Now onto the fashion part of this post: my favorite part about dressing for the colder weather is layering, and that can be done so easily with a poncho. This one is reversible, which is awesome because you get two ponchos for the price of one! I have the Ivory with Oatmeal Beige; it also comes in three other color combinations. It’s made in a quality soft, smooth wool blend that is very warm and cozy, and I love the fringe details! I’ve rarely ever been disappointed with the quality of Banana Republic clothes; it’s definitely one of my go-to brands, especially for my fall wardrobe!
