I cannot believe that we’ll be celebrating the New Year in just 5 days! I felt like Christmas this year was super short since it was on a Monday and I had to work on Tuesday, which was not fun at all! It’s so cliche to say but time really is FLYING BY, and I wish there was a way to slow it down. Christmas is my favorite holiday mainly because of all of the traditions and family time. Jon and I have always split up the holidays – Christmas Eve is with my family and Christmas Day with his. It has always worked out perfectly and allowed us to spend time with both families, which is what’s most important to us. This year was the first year in a while that my parents hosted Christmas – they always used to until my cousin got married and started hosting. She’s pregnant now (8 months already – ahhh!) so it would have been too much for her this year. So Christmas Eve was back home in Massachusetts and then on Christmas Day we had to travel back to New York to Jon’s family. It was a bit more traveling than we would have liked, but totally worth it! I wouldn’t trade spending time with our families for the world. We feel like we say this every year, but this Christmas really was the best one yet. The gifts were so thoughtful and there have been so many amazing things that have happened in 2017 so it was nice to reflect on it all, wind down, and eat a bunch of Christmas desserts haha!
For my outfit this year I knew I wanted to wear a skirt and over-the-knee boots – I’m just obsessed with that combination (also see how I styled OTK boots with a dress in this post). I shopped everywhere for a mini skirt and was surprised that I wasn’t finding anything anywhere! I work close to 5th avenue in the city so I went after work one day and walked through H&M, Ann Taylor, TopShop, and found nothing! Until finally I went into Aritzia (my absolute favorite boutique!), walked right in and found the skirt I wanted within seconds! Aritzia doesn’t have sales very often and their clothes are a bit pricey but they always have exactly what I’m looking for, so sometimes it’s worth it to go into the store that you know you’ll pay a little more for and avoid the headache of walking through a large store like H&M without finding exactly what you want.
I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and enjoyed time with loved ones!
XO,
Sandy
