This post is sponsored by Pantene, but opinions are my own.
Hi, friends! I recently got to try the Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water and am excited to explore my “hairitage” with Pantene. It’s made me realize just how much my heritage and some important women in my life have inspired me throughout my life, even when it comes to the way I style and take care of my hair. Most of my FAQs from you guys center around my hair, so I’ll be answering a few of those below and diving deeper into how I used to feel about my hair, and what I think about it now.
Is all your hair real or do you have extensions?
My hair is 100% real and my own! I am so proud and feel very fortunate to say that, and I know that a lot of it has to do with my Portuguese genes. Portuguese people are known to have a lot of dark, thick hair. Believe it or not, growing up I hated how much hair I had because it was so much bigger, thicker, and frizzier than everyone else’s. When I think about why I was so unhappy with my hair when I was younger, it has less to do with how it actually looked and the condition of it, and more to do with how different it was from most of my friends. It’s interesting to realize how early we started to compare ourselves to others, and just because we were different, we felt less than. I had more than most, and I should’ve been very grateful for that instead of feeling ashamed of it. Of course, now I’m so appreciative of my genes, my culture, and all the hair that I have!
How do you keep your hair so long and healthy?
I’ve already touched upon how much I used to dislike my hair because I wanted to look like most of my friends who had straight, flat hair. So, you can imagine how much I used to straighten and overheat my hair back then. Ever since I’ve come to appreciate my hair, I treat and take care of it much differently. That means applying less heat to it, washing it less, and using the right products when I do style and wash it.
The main thing I look for when selecting products is that they’re free of sulfates, parabens, dyes, and mineral oils. Since I color my hair, I also look for products that are gentle and don’t strip my hair of all its nutrients. Which is why I’ve been using and loving the Pantene Nutrient Blends Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water for my wash days (I try to only wash my hair 1-2x per week). Not only are these products free of sulfates and parabens, but they also contain a blend of vitamins, antioxidants, and rose water. The formula in these products hydrates my hair and leaves it feeling smooth and silky soft. They also tame frizz, so even though I love my hair now, I still don’t like it to be frizzy, and the Pantene Miracle Moisture Boost Collection with Rose Water has helped keep my hair frizz-free.
Another way I keep my hair healthy is by using a deep hair treatment once per week, and the Pantene Rose Water Treatment does the trick for keeping my hair intensely hydrated, nourished, and petal soft. I use it in the shower after washing with the Shampoo and leave it in for about 5 minutes before rinsing and then applying the Conditioner.
What has inspired your hair care routine?
When I think about what has inspired the way that I take care of and style my hair, I can’t help but think of my heritage and my mother. She’s influenced me in so many ways throughout my life. The way that I put myself together, including how I style my hair, has so much to do with her, how she raised me, and everything she taught me. Growing up she would constantly make sure my sister and I looked well put together, had the most stylish clothes, and the most polished hairstyles. She would dress us in the cutest outfits that always had matching headbands, clips, or bows in our hair. My mom took so much care in every aspect of our lives and did her best to ensure we had it all, which included having the best hair (even if I didn’t fully appreciate it at the time, I sure do now!).
My Godmother, who is also my mom’s older sister, has always had a big influence on my mom, which has trickled down to me. My Godmother lives in France and has a second home in Portugal, so unfortunately, we aren’t always able to see her, but when we do our time together is so precious. When we visit her in Portugal, her and my mom always go to the hair salon for a blowout. She takes tremendous pride in her appearance, especially when she’s going out, and I know that it’s where my mom gets it from too. They taught me that voluminous hair is beautiful, and the more volume you have, the better. To have voluminous, bouncy hair you need it to be nourished and healthy, which is why using the Pantene Miracle Moisture Boost Collection has been such a key part of my hair care.
We stay at my Godmother’s house in Portugal when we visit, and I have many fond memories from our vacations there. The house is big and beautiful with an outdoor balcony that loops around the entire upper level, and there’s a garden that surrounds it. In the back of the house she has a garden full of every vegetable and fruit you can imagine, and in the front, she has a garden full of flowers. One summer I took many photos of her garden, specifically her roses, because I was so enchanted by their beauty. My Godmother always has the finest things, and I would particularly look forward to my showers at her house because she had products with the best scents (at the time I didn’t appreciate the actual benefits or ingredients, I solely liked them for how wonderful they smelled!). She usually had Pantene products in her showers, so when I use my own now, especially the Rose Water Collection, it always brings me back to my Godmother’s beautiful garden and home. Scents have a way of taking me back to a specific time and place, so I love that every time I treat my hair with the Pantene Miracle Moisture Boost Collection, I think of my wonderful Godmother and all the ways that she’s inspired my mom and I to appreciate the power of our unique “hairitage”.
I hope that this post has inspired you to explore your own hairitage and try the Pantene Nutrient Blends Collection. You can find the Miracle Moisture Boost with Rose Water Collection at Walgreens!
