I purposefully waited to create and send our save the date cards until after our engagement photos were taken because I knew I wanted to use them on the cards, and I’m so glad I did! Our photographer did an incredible job photographing us, making us feel comfortable, and providing us with multiple different shots with different backgrounds. I talk about our engagement shoot experience in this post if you want to read more on that. Choosing the picture on the front side of the card was a fairly easy choice because it was my favorite photo, but I also wanted to share more photos on the back of the card, and those were more difficult to choose since there were so many I liked!
I created and ordered our cards from Minted and was very happy with the results. Their designs are created by individual artists and you can customize them however you’d like. There were so many designs to choose from that it was a bit overwhelming at first. To narrow down the options I ordered some samples of my favorite designs before making a decision. It was super helpful to get the samples in because they came in a booklet with samples of the various paper you can choose from too. The paper they offer varies in thickness and look. They have a pearlescent paper which has a bit of a sheen to it, premium 100% recycled paper, and an ultra-thick museum board paper. We chose their signature paper which was perfect because I thought the thickness was good enough and I didn’t want a sheen finish.
The samples booklet also comes with a few different envelopes and more information on the convenient and free services they offer. Some of the complimentary services include table number and place card printing and tracking of RSVPs on your wedding website which you can also create on Minted. Many of their customization options are free, and some of them include custom monograms and hand-drawn maps to your venue. It’s really like a one stop shop for cards and other printing needs for the wedding.
They also have many different formats and shapes to choose from. We went with the 5″ x 7″ flat card with white envelopes. I loved the simplicity of the design we chose and the foil-pressed lettering. Foil-pressed is a bit more expensive but totally worth it in my opinion, it adds a little something extra and you guys know I’m all about being extra haha! I loved our engagement pictures so much that I wanted to share more of them with everyone who received the card, so I added six more pictures to the back. Adding these pictures cost me an additional $26, but it was definitely worth it to me.
Once I placed my order I received a proof the next day. They require you to review the proof before they print and send you the cards which I thought was great! It was nice to be able to review the final design before the order was made and sent to me. I had a great experience using Minted and I was extremely happy with the way the cards came out! It was very easy to order and the options were endless. They always have promotions going on too so you can get a great discount. Right now they have a 30% off save the date promo and a $50 credit for a future thank you card order!
The next big thing on my wedding to-do list is our invitations! I haven’t made a final decision on which vendor I’ll be using for those but there’s a good chance I’ll go back to Minted!
