Having clothes that can be worn both in the office and on the weekends is so ideal, which is why dresses like this one in today’s post are my favorite to purchase! The amount of clothes you have that can double as work and casual wear will largely depend on your profession and/or the dress code at your office. The firm I worked for at my first job in public accounting was business casual, but depending on the client you had and if you worked at their site, you could possibly wear jeans on Fridays. For the most part I was always in pencil skirts, blazers, dresses, pants, heels, etc. I loved it! It honestly made me feel good getting ready for work everyday. I’ve always been of the “look good, feel good” mindset. The 4-inch heels really did impact my confidence when walking into meetings. First impressions can be everything, especially in the corporate world of NYC, so it was always important to me that I looked put together and polished.
Banana Republic has always been my go-to for work clothes. They almost always have big sales and the quality of their clothes has never disappointed me. I love their petite shop, I can always find a dress that is work appropriate and also cute to wear out on the weekends to a party (just like the one in today’s post!). Their blazers are also my favorite, they always have a variety of fun colors and textures and they fit true to size.
At my current job we don’t really have a dress code, it’s more casual than business casual. I work in finance for iHeart Media, so it’s no surprise that the largest audio company has a laid back, casual office environment. Because of this I now dress more casual to the office, my go-to is usually jeans with a blazer and heels in the colder months. During spring and summer I love to put on a dress like this one, they’re so easy to style and can easily be dressed up with the right accessories and heels, or dressed down with flats/sneakers and a denim jacket. It’s also convenient when you’re going out after work when you don’t have to worry about going home first to change since you’re already wearing a comfy and cute dress. I haven’t been wearing my more formal dresses for this reason and also because they’re so expensive to get dry cleaned! Overall I do keep it more business casual at the office since as I’ve already mentioned, it makes me feel more confident and I genuinely enjoy dressing up!
