Asking my bridesmaids to be a part of our wedding was one of the most exciting things about this journey so far. When I think about our wedding day, nothing makes me happier than imagining all of our family and friends in the same room celebrating the love that we share. This whole experience has been so humbling; it’s made Jonathan and I realize not only how much we love each other, but also how much everyone around us is rooting for us and how genuinely happy they are that we’re taking this next step in our lives together. When we think about all of the many exciting things to come like our bachelor and bachelorette parties, we know they’re going to be some of the best days of our lives because we’ve chosen our closest bunch to be a part of it.
Choosing who will stand by my side as I say yes to the man of my dreams was a decision that came easily and was one that I was so happy to make. I’m so grateful to have some of the strongest, most genuine and lovable women in my life who inspire me, support me, and know me better than most. I chose 7 bridesmaids, and although I cherish each of my relationships with them equally, my bond with each and every one of them is somewhat different. Most of these women have known me for my entire life and I consider them all as sisters (my maid of honor is my actual sister!), but what makes them all unique is the way in which they know me and our separate memories over the years. I felt so blessed to be able to ask such amazing women to be an important part of our big day!
So now on to HOW I asked. I always loved the idea of personalized hangers so I knew early on that it’s how I wanted to ask my girls to be my bridesmaids. The hangers with the names written in the wire are just so cute, and it’s something that they’ll actually use on the day of the wedding (Here’s the link to where I purchased the hangers). If you know me then you know how corny and mushy I like to get with these kinds of things, so of course I couldn’t just get them the hangers, I also had to add a personal touch. 🙂 So I went to Michaels and purchased wooden hearts, paint, and some yarn. I painted each of the hearts white, wrote the questions on the front, and glued a picture of myself and that particular person on the back. They weren’t perfect but that wasn’t the point. I wanted my girls to know how special they are to me and how much it means to me to have them by my side on my wedding day. Since I asked them all around the holidays I wrapped the hangers in boxes and presented them as a Christmas gift in order to surprise them. It was so fun! I’ll never forget those moments and each of their reactions when they realized I was popping the question!
