What Valentine’s Day Means to Me
Another holiday is right around the corner, and this one has always been one of my favorites. I enjoy celebrating Valentine’s Day simply because it’s a day dedicated to and surrounded by love. Love is all you need and love always wins in my book, so I find February 14 to be a very special day each year. It’s a day that you get to remind all of those who mean the most to you (beyond just your significant other) that you love and appreciate them. And most importantly, a day that you should reflect on all of the reasons why you love yourself.
I’m an avid believer of self-love. I think we attract what we give off, and what we believe about ourselves on the inside is what we manifest on the outside. At the end of the day, we’re all human and none of us are perfect. So even though I’ve come a very long way in my own self discovery and accomplished many things that I’m proud of, I’m also still working on my goals and striving to be better. I’m very happy with the relationship that I have with myself and those closest to me. The relationship that I’m most focused on recently is my relationship with God. Life seems to continuously get busier and more chaotic as each year passes (in some of the best ways), but I’m no longer letting that be an excuse for why I miss church or forget my faith in Him. Jonathan and I have been going to mass every Sunday since we found a beautiful church close to us. When I still lived at home with my parents I would go to church with them every Sunday and then go to the grocery store to buy food for the week. It was such a special thing we did together and once I moved out to New York I missed that routine. I kept making excuses that I hadn’t found the right church or that I was traveling too much and never truly settled down in one place. Although I’m not happy with the excuses that I made, there’s no point in dwelling on the past, I’m just glad that I’m going back to church regularly and rediscovering the power and love of God. It’s also a very important step in the wedding planning as Jonathan and I will of course be getting married in a church.
I wanted to share this Bible verse with you all since I think it’s very fitting for this topic and it’s one of my favorite verses:
“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” – 1 Corinthian 13:4-7
The Perfect Gift for Yourself or Someone You Love
When I was a kid my favorite part about Valentine’s day was the chocolate. My mom would always buy all of us a box of chocolate hearts and my dad would get the biggest one, so we’d end up eating his once we finished our own, haha! Jonathan and I never really go crazy with getting each other presents for V-Day, we focus more on spending time with each other and going out to a nice dinner instead. We all know V-Day isn’t about the presents, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love a good present, am I right?! So whether you’re looking for a present for someone you love or you just want to treat yourself, I’ve got the perfect idea for you.
You guys already know how much I love unique pieces, something that’s really different from the rest and makes a statement. The wood watches by JORD do just that. My favorite is their Cassia series for women, I have the one in Zebra & Ivory, and I am beyond obsessed! I love the Roman numeral dial; it’s so unique, yet simple and sophisticated. I stopped wearing watches for a while because the ones I liked were either too expensive and I wasn’t willing to invest the money, or nothing really peaked my interest and I started to feel like they all looked the same. These JORD watches are truly a timepiece, the wood bands and cases really stand out and make for a beautiful piece of jewelry. The best part? You can get the watch engraved to add a personal touch! I don’t have to say anymore, you have to check them out whether you’re looking for a men’s or women’s watch, they have amazing options for both!
I’m so excited to give you guys the opportunity to win a $100 gift code to use on the JORD site! All you have to do is fill out your name and email: Click here to enter! You’ll also get a 10% off code just for entering the giveaway! Last day to enter the giveaway is 2/4/18.
